Purdue University is a large public research university in Indiana known for engineering, computer science, business, aviation, and hands-on innovation.

Academically, Purdue is best known for engineering, computer science, business, aviation, and the agricultural and physical sciences. It is one of the classic choices for students who want depth in STEM without giving up the scale and breadth of a major public university.

The undergraduate experience is usually rigorous and practical. Students are pushed to handle demanding coursework, but they also benefit from labs, maker spaces, project teams, industry-connected classes, and many chances to apply what they learn.

Campus life feels big, active, and school-spirited. Because the university is so large, students often need to be proactive about finding communities, research mentors, and leadership roles rather than waiting for opportunities to come to them.

Career preparation is one of Purdue's biggest advantages. Employers recruit heavily across engineering and technical fields, and students can build strong résumés through internships, undergraduate research, design teams, and alumni connections.

Best for students who want a big-school environment, strong STEM or business options, undergraduate research, and a campus that rewards rigor and initiative.
