Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM)
COMAP Mathematical Contest in Modeling (MCM) is an international mathematics competition organized by the Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications (COMAP). It is primarily designed for undergraduate students, but advanced high school students may also participate. Teams of up to three students work collaboratively over a continuous 96-hour period to solve real-world problems using mathematical modeling, producing a comprehensive research-style paper.
Significance
MCM is one of the most prestigious modeling competitions globally, emphasizing interdisciplinary problem-solving and real-world application of mathematics. Awards include Outstanding Winner, Finalist, Meritorious Winner, and Honorable Mention, with the top distinction (Outstanding Winner) being highly selective.
