Universiti Malaya (UM) is the oldest and highest-ranked university in Malaysia and one of the leading comprehensive research universities in Southeast Asia. History
The origins of Universiti Malaya date back to 1905 with the establishment of the King Edward VII College of Medicine. In 1949, it merged with Raffles College to form the University of Malaya. In 1962, the university split into two autonomous divisions in Singapore and Kuala Lumpur, with the Kuala Lumpur campus evolving into today’s Universiti Malaya.
